As you begin your spring cleaning and home makeover projects this season, I wanted to remind you that those small tweaks to your space can make a huge difference. Keep reading for a few easy tricks you can try out this month to freshen up and spring-ify your home.
1. Shuffle your art
You don’t have to go out and buy new art to make a change to your space, you can simply move around pieces from other areas of your home. For example, hanging some of your favorite small houseplants or collection of woven baskets above the bed.
2. Change the sheets
Matching the sheets and pillows to the headboard creates a very cool monochromatic effect. You can also switch up the way you make the bed, for example staking the pillows on top of each other like the inspiration photo, or pairing down your throw pillows for a more minimal look.
3. Play with symmetry
If your bed is up against a wall, try messing around with a little bit of symmetry by placing nightstands and lamps on either side. Even in a small space, I think it’s worth trying. If you don’t like it, you can always move them back.
4. Move your furniture
I’m a big fan of moving around a piece(s) of furniture if it’s crowding a space or just doesn’t fit. In this case, a bench or ottoman can be moved to the end of the bed, and you can use chairs or stools as beside tables.
5. Get inspired
I love looking to hotels and other homes for inspiration. The interior design sector of Instagram is a great place to expose yourself to a fresh perspective on design that’s different to what you may be used to seeing. Of course, design blogs and Pinterest make this much easier, too.
